Polyganics is developing a special brain patch

- Life Cooperative
Member of the Life Cooperative, Polyganics, based in Groningen, is developing a patch that can help prevent complications after brain surgery. For this, we cooperate with renowned brain surgeons from Switzerland, North America and Utrecht.
It is a plaster that does not exist yet. The special thing about it is that it adheres well and dissolves after thirty days so that a new operation is not necessary.
If the patch passes the tests and actually comes on the market, it can be used to prevent leakage of cerebrospinal fluid after a brain operation. Now that happens with stitches, but that sometimes works insufficiently. This can cause serious complications.
For the development and testing of the patch Polyganics receives 125,000 euros subsidy from the province of Groningen. Besides working with brain surgeons, the company also works together with the Syncom - member of the Life Cooperative - who are also based in Groningen - and six northern suppliers.
