The Healthy Ageing Tour has, in consultation with the participating teams and the international cycling federation UCI, made some adjustments regarding both the date of the junior-women race and the status of the elite-women race.

De stagerace for the elite-women, won last year by the German rider Lisa Klein, was originally entered as part of the new UCI Pro Series. The organization of the stagerace in the Northern Netherlands (8-12 April 2020) reversed its decision in consultation with before mentioned parties.

Three reasons

Racedirector Thijs Rondhuis gave three reasons for this decision: “First of all, the 2.1 status affords us the opportunity to invite the top of the Dutch clubteams to participate, which wasn’t allowed in the Pro Series. The past nine years the clubs have embraced our race, and it didn’t feel right to keep them out in the year of our 10th anniversary. A second reason is that the participating UCI women-teams indicated to have no specific preference of a Pro Series status compared to the original 2.1 status. This means that this decision has no consequence for the top of our participating teams. And last but not least, this change means that we can guarantee the continuity of our race in the long run, because the 2.1 status has less impact on our budget.”

The organization of the Healthy Ageing Tour also decided to start the junior race a day earlier than originally projected. It will take place between 9 and 11 April, which allows the participants to spend Easter at home.
